2023-2025 Advocacy Campaigns
Advocacy is what we do. We came into being to fight for health service providers in the auto sector and fair treatment of those who have been injured in auto accidents. We do this in various ways and at various times in response to the issues.
Since our inception in 2011 we have been part of many advisory and consultative committees at the regulator (FSCO, now FSRA) and the Ministry of Finance, both of which play a major role in auto insurance policy. Currently our Director of Advocacy and Stakeholder Relations sits on FSRA’s Stakeholder Advisory Committee for Auto Insurance.
The ORA has made countless written submissions to consultation processes that impact us and our clients.
In 2024 alone we made written submissions on:
-
HSP Rates: Professional Services Guideline, Attendant Care rates, Minor Injury Guideline
-
Auto Insurance as First Payor
-
Licensing Framework for Health Service Providers
-
Preferred Provider Networks
-
FSRA’s Proposed Fraud Reporting Service
-

Current Advocacy Campaign
The Fair Fees Fight we launched in the winter of 2023 won us a promise of action in the 2024 Ontario Budget and gave rise to FSRA’s consultations in the fall of 2024. FSRA will be making recommendations to the Ministry of Finance this spring and the ORA is working hard to ensure we have an opportunity to weigh in prior to implementation.
HSP Fees Increase Campaign
Fall 2023 Into Winter 2024
Through much of August 2023 the ORA was engaged with the Ontario government’s Ministry of Finance and FSRA, providing our positions on the auto insurance priorities communicated in the 2023 Provincial Budget: to provide more choice, reduce disputes, improve health access and outcomes for claimants, and reduce fraud. Given that the government seems to be considering these priorities we believed that fall was an opportune time to educate and advocate with government bureaucrats and elected officials on the issues of importance to us.
